Pradhosam is a bimonthly occasion on the thirteenth day of every fortnight in the Hindu calendar 🕉📆. It is closely connected with the worship of the Hindu god Shiva. The auspicious three-hour period 1.5 hours 🕟before and after sunset is considered as the most suited and optimal time for worship of Shiva on this day. The fasting vow performed during the period is called "Pradosha vrata". A devotee should wear rudraksha, Vibhuti and worship Shiva by abhisheka, sandal paste, bael leaves, fragrance, deepa and naivedya (food offerings).

Periyandavar Function is celeberated to kulatheivam Periyandavar by vammayar kula descent. This is one of the traditional practises which was followed since 16 th century by our 24 MTC vammayar kular periyan descent in konanchettiyur. During this time periyan pangalis(periyan descent) will organize the rituals for the god and the process will begin 1 month before the date of the actual function. There are lot of preconditions to begin the function like all periyan descent to agree, there shouldn't be any condolense in periyan families, asking the permission from god etc.. If all the preconditions are satisfied we will officially organize the function for 3 days. Day 1 will be preparing , getting ready for the rituals , Day2 is actual function to the god , Day 3 is MaruPoojai.
